<title>An empirical study on the patterns of organizational Structure of Japanese affiliates in Sri Lanka</title>
<link>http://ir.lib.seu.ac.lk/handle/123456789/52</link>
<description>An empirical study on the patterns of organizational Structure of Japanese affiliates in Sri Lanka
Pathmaranjan, R
The Loosely Structured Organization (LSO) is presently regarded as a new management&#13;
paradigm, which determines the structure and functions of organizations today. LSO&#13;
evolved as a modern organizational form perfectly matching the multi-product, smallvolume&#13;
lean production system brought about by new technology in latter part of&#13;
1980s. LSO is currently considered as the dominant organizational form among&#13;
Japanese enterprises and increasingly diffusing among Japanese affiliates even in&#13;
abroad. This paper, which was based on an empirical research study focuses on&#13;
clarifying the patterns of organization structure of Japanese affiliates in SriLanka,&#13;
with special reference to the paradigm of LSO. The research framework conceptualized&#13;
structural patterns on the basis of a typology consisting of two main components:&#13;
work and management organizations of a firm. The study, which was carried out among&#13;
five Japanese affiliates operating in SriLanka, has found the existence of LSO in those&#13;
firms. The findings suggest that the LSO is diffusing across national borders and the&#13;
Japanese style of organizational form has universal characteristics.

<title>Measuring and reporting of intellectual capital: with special reference to commercial banks in Sri Lanka</title>
<link>http://ir.lib.seu.ac.lk/handle/123456789/50</link>
<description>Measuring and reporting of intellectual capital: with special reference to commercial banks in Sri Lanka
Rajapakse, Bandara; Ratnayake, Anuradha S
Importance and growing pressure from shareholders on Intellectual Capital (IC) have&#13;
been increased over the past decades since managing, measuring and reporting oflC&#13;
is becoming recognized as an important strategy for transparency and more complete&#13;
information on the potential profitability and growth of organizations in competitive&#13;
environment. However, Sri Uinkan companies still give little importance for the&#13;
measuring and reporting of IC. Thus, the objective of this study is to develop a&#13;
measuring and reporting framework for IC in Sri Utnkan contexts. This study is&#13;
conducted over five limited liability commercial banking companies currently&#13;
operating in Sri Lanka. Study found that measuring and reporting framework for IC&#13;
was developed in western countries could be applied in Sri Lankan contexts with&#13;
required adjustments based on stakeholders' prospective and available information.
