dc.description.abstract | Empowerment is a process which aimed at changing the nature and direction of systematic method that marginalize women and other disadvantaged sections of the society. Empowerment can serve as a powerful instrument for women to achieve social and economic mobility and acquire power and status in society. The status of any section of population in a society is intimately connected with its economic position. The development strategy which neglects the need for enhancing the role of women cannot lead to comprehensive socio – economic development. Globalisation has introduced enormous economic opportunities for women, but they are associated with mounting threats.
