Abstract:
Climate change is one of the most widely researched and discussed topical problems affecting the most of the sectors specially agriculture. Sri Lanka’s economy is heavily dependent on agriculture which employs a large percentage of the population. Developing countries are more vulnerable to climate change, as they will be the most affected, but have the minimum capacity to adapt to it. Climate change may be due to natural internal processes or external forcing or to persistent anthropogenic changes in the composition of the atmosphere or in land use. The problem of this study is impact of climate change on crop production and importance of science and technology in disaster management in Batticaloa District, Sri Lanka. Because appropriate measures of adaptation and mitigation of climate changes are extreme importance. Therefore, the main objective is to identify the impact of climate change on agricultural production and to adapt and mitigate the climate change by disaster management technology in Batticaloa District, Sri Lanka.
