Abstract:
This article aims to identify the challenges faced by G.C.E. (o/l) students in the
online education at present context, to determine whether a difference between males and
female students regarding challenges faced during online learning, and to evaluate the
effectiveness of online learning in schools in Kandy district from students’ perspectives. In this
study a sample of 100 students was taken. The technique of simple random sampling for used
for this finding. Results revealed that all the students were facing same issues in schools.
Specially the G.C.E. (o/l) students facing lot of problems in online study. Online learning
cannot produce good results in developing countries like Sri Lanka, where a huge majority of
students are not able to access the good internet facility due to technical as well as financial
issues. This research addressed the effectiveness of online and challenges faced by students
who are taking online classes. As per this finding, 40% of students had not proper internet
facility and hey faced lots of internet issues and 30% students were not satisfies with online
learning, some students complaining about eye sight issues and body pains by taking online
classes on devices. As a result, most of the students are facing same issues and that was major
problem for who are going to face G.C.E. (o/l) exam, we hope this study will help for those
students surely.
