dc.description.abstract Today's generation, children’s are considered tomorrow’s leader. Although children are encouraged to be the future of our community, it is questionable whether proper protection and recognition for children are available. In that sense, Sri Lanka has become a country with a high incidence of child abuse and related deaths in recent times. Thus every abuse perpetrated on children today leads to the creation of an unhealthy society in the future rather than the present situation. Despite various initiatives to prevent child abuse in our country it has transformed into an event that is ubiquitous in society today. Especially in our country where socially different divisions are found among the people but all people show the same level of expression in terms of child abuse. In order to give importance to children in today's society, the contribution of this study is seen as emphasizing the proper protection of children. In addition, in order to identify the causes of child abuse in Sri Lankan society and the persistent occurrence of child abuse in our society today and to provide appropriate solutions “this study has been conducted as a sociological study focusing on the whole of Sri Lanka.” This Qualitative study has been carried out with a focus on secondary data and with the aid of descriptive and descriptive methods using observation from primary data. The main issues identified in this study were the unsafe environment for children, parental apathy, child labor, increased impact of social media and the over maturity of children. Recommendations were also made to create a safe environment for this, to increase parental focus on children, to increase interpretation of touch, to increase social perception of male children, and to increase parental attention to the use of social media. en_US
