Abstract:
The language activities play an important role in developing students' language skills. Through
language activities, teachers can identify and develop the language abilities of students, thus linking and
deepening the information, skills and tendencies learned by students. In addition, these language activities
help the learner to prepare for the public life that awaits them outside the walls of the school. Hence, this
study aims to explore the teachers’ efficacy in employing language activities in teaching Arabic to improve
the level of students at the Southeastern University of Sri Lanka. This study uses an analytical descriptive
approach, with a closed questionnaire given to teachers in the Department of Arabic Language at the
Southeastern University of Sri Lanka, as a closed questionnaire was distributed randomly to 100 male and
female students studying in the second, third and fourth years in the Department of Arabic Language at the
Southeastern University of Sri Lanka. The data is analyzed using the statistical package SPSS, and the
results reveal that most teachers are interested in language activities, while some are not interested in
teaching Arabic at Southeastern University of Sri Lanka.
