dc.description.abstract There are many factors that cause a person to make mistakes, his environment plays a major role in it. Thus to be observed that the abandoned buildings found in the environment are largely used for anti-social activities. This study examines some of the government, non-government and private buildings built for some purpose in Maruthamunai area and the anti-social activities taking place in them. The study revealed that these buildings are used for various anti-social activities such as drug addiction, prostitution and hiding. This research based on qualitative and quantitative study. In this study both primary data and secondary data are used. Data was collected mainly through observation and unstructured interviews, observing human movement in the identified abandoned buildings in Maruthamunai, interweaving the people of living around the buildings and discussing with the relevant authorized persons. Based on the data 100% of the abandoned buildings found in Maruthamunai are used for Drug use, 33% for prostitution and sex activities, 555 for drugdealing and hiding drugs, 775 for students to use mobile phones and play mobile games, 285 for school students to hide in and 445 for thieves. This study presents suggestions to identify and prevent anti-social activities in abandoned buildings in Maruthamunai area and should be take necessary action through the government agents to use. en_US
