dc.description.abstract | lie selection of an appropriate procurement method is becoming an increasingly important issue due to complex decision-making that has to be made by clients early in the project lifecycle. The purpose of this research is to improve and enhance procurement system to get sustainable development in the Eastern Province construction industry through identify, evaluate and rank essential the factors that affect the selection of traditional and the non-traditional procurement methods from procurement experts and consultants" perspectives An extensive literature review of various procurement methods and factors which influence the selection of an appropriate method for construction projects in Eastern Province was conducted. A survey questionnaire was carried out to elicit professionals’ views on factors that influence the selection of procurement method for their planned projects; a total of 14 organizations (including procurement experts and consultants operating in Eastern Province) responded to the survey. The data were collected and analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS V 20) and the factors ranked according to their results of SPSS V 20. The research results revealed that there is a significant positive correlation between independent variables such as Client, Project Characteristics, External Environment with the dependent variable of Procurement Method whereas there is a negative significant correlation between independent variables such as Cost, Time, and Risk with dependent variable Procurement Method. Furthermore, the independent variables were measured by 54 sub-variables among these 12 sub-variables are identified as the most important sub-variables. The dependent variable was measured by procurement methods but the research results showed that the non-traditional method is not the significant method in Eastern Province. One of the important research results is open tendering under the traditional method preferred by most of the respondents in Eastern Province. Also, research result showed that it is no significant difference for selecting the procurement method (Traditional method) among the Deputy General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Project Directors, Chief Engineer, and Others. | en_US |
