Abstract: It is obvious that education is the base for the long lasting development of a country. At times there may be many challenges and obstacles upon the smooth implementation of compulsory Education. In this regard, this research aims at identifying the challenges encountered by the schools of Manmunai South West Educational division in the Batticaloa district. This research clearly states the importance of compulsory education in a child’s life and by identifying the challenges in the implementation of compulsory education it discovers the reasons why the students did not receive compulsory education
