Comparative study of Tafseer “Al-Quraniya Sinthanai” between other Tafseers

Abstract

All praise to be Allah. And the peace and blessings be upon holy Prophet, his entire household and his companions. It is compulsory for every Muslim to concentrate on Qur’anic knowledge and its commentary (detailed study). Because Islamic principles, beliefs, rules and regulations, religious rites are derived from it. To understand the holy Quran, Sri Lankan Muslims, who do not know Arabic, depend on the translations. Therefore, it is very important to translate the holy Quran-an in to Tamil. Detailed explanations published so far for the holy Quran are based on old approach; but the detailed explanation titled Qur’anic thought written by author, Osthath Mohammed Mansoor is based on new approach. He has translated one of the chapters of the holy Quran, ‘Surath AlBaqara into Tamil and rendered detailed explanation as far as he could. This has excited the Sri Lankan Muslims those who follow the old approach. Because there are some ideas based on new approach that are different from old approach. Therefore, the researchers do the research on the above topic, tries to identify the background, life history of the writer and the approach he followed in his detailed explanation and identity the drawback in his translation. Hence, the researchers use descriptive analytical method to analyse this book and the information received when the books related to that are read, in conclusion, the researchers puts forward that the author has handled title by title translation and he has been influenced by the trend of Seyyid Kuthub and those related to him.
