dc.description.abstractEvery single person firms their existence in this world since their birth. Even though, human behaviours are highly influenced and shaped by environmental, social and cultural factors. The new challenges faced by human beings, the ways of handling those challenges and the multiple experience in every age categories contribute to the personality development of human beings. A child is going to preschool in the initial stage of understanding its own desires and environmental scenarios which help to develop aesthetic values and self-understanding. Therefore, a child started to understand himself/herself in the pre-school stage. In this regard, this study was conducted in order to exemplify whether the pre-school teaching and learning activities and the pre-school environment help to develop personality and the skills of the pre-school students. This study was conducted in Digana Located in Kandy district by selecting 3 pre-schools. Questionnaires, key-informant interviews and observation were applied in order to collect primary data among teachers, students, parents about teaching and learning process and related activities, teaching and learning environment. The relevant books, research articles, reliable web sources, newspaper articles and records were used as secondary data source for this research. This research was analysed by using descriptive analysis method and critical analysis method.en_US
