Abstract: “Fish need water to be a fish; humans need metaphor to do and think about politics,”said by Thompson,1996,p. 185.“Metaphors are the essential partsof language by the formation of concepts and meaning,”said by Franke,200;and Lakoff &Johnson,1980. According to Franke (year?), Metaphorsserve to name the unnameable, creating a frameworkwhere concepts are seen. The goal of this paper is to focus on the explanation of the distinctive metaphorsin “Barack Obama‟s inaugural speech when he wassworn in as the 44thUS president on20 January 2009”.This aim of the present study is to highlightU.S.A, newpresident‟susage of “metaphor”in his first speech. I'll depend onthe illustration & the clarification given by “George Lakoff &Johnson‟s conceptual metaphor”.Finally, I'llwrite mydeductive discovery, exploring that UnitedStates‟new president hasused “metaphor”in an effectivemanner and creativemethod to persuade his people about his future strategy. His amazingspeech tries toshow his people, hisabilitytofind a solution tothe enormous proportion of the decline of the economy that threatenedthe US, and the publicpassion was that they lost a significant amount of their nationalself-confidence.
