Abstract: The economic decline of a society is an indicator of the rise of poverty in society. The objectives of the study are to identify the economic status of 25 households in Salamat Nahar of the Adalaichenai divisional secretariat division, to identify the factors that influence the economic statues and to give recommendations for poverty alleviation. The quantitative and qualitative method of investigations were used in this study, and a whole village of 23 houses were studied. The primary data, which is centred on interview, Observation and questionnaire, is analyzed through data analysis method using SPSS software and the drawings are shown in Excel. The economic status of the villagers is lagging and many factors have contributed to the economic downturn. The main findings of this study are that low incomes in the industry, which cause constant unemployment, are key factors in the economic downturn. This may mean that the economy of the people is unsustainable and the people are living in poverty. Further, it is also the process of improving the economy of the region.
