Abstract: A lot of researches /Studies have been done on this topic since Sangam literature period. Research Culture wish was started by C.Y. Thamotharampillai and U.W. Shaminathiyar has been developed through study protocols by Vaiyapuripillai and still it has been done in different grounds. “Purananooru which was originated in sanga period reflects the outwards life of sanga society.There are 11 Thinaikal and 64 divisions in Purananooru. Kuthirai maram is one among them. It is a common opinion that “Puram” is about the resource in the country. Regime of the kings. Valiancy of the king’s strength of their forces donations etc. but “puram” is about the glory of common citizens and warriors also in that way this study is about “kuthirai maram” and its specialty.This study was done through the sociological and descriptive criticism method. “Kuthirai maram” which is a part of purananooru reveals the valiancy of horses and Cavalry men. There are five songs in this divisions (273, 299, 302, 303, and 304) these poems are about the wars between the kings and small land kings. Moreover it exposes the bravery of small land kings and their horse forces. These poets were singing when they had wars between kings and small land kings. There are lot of facts mentioned in “Kuthirai Maram” and some of them are specially of cavalry men, strength of horses, preparation of horses for the wars, suffering of the wife of warrior praising the horse force as equal to elephant force, News about the elephant which were killed during the war, praising the horse force of small land kings and degrading the horse force of kings etc.
