Abstract: The transfer of learning theory is very useful in the process of teaching and learning. This theory is also very helpful in order to process the educational theories in the classroom. A person gets permanent behavioural changes through continual education. This theory of transfer of learning emphasizes that a person possess the ability to apply the knowledge learned in one context to new context. This study is conducted with the aim of explaining the importance of transfer of learning theory for the effective teaching in classrooms. This qualitative study is based on secondary data, which was already published on books, magazines, journal articles and reliable web sources. Descriptive analysis method is used for this study. This research focused on transfer of learning in education, different perspectives about the theory of transfer of learning, the factors influenced on transfer of learning and the methods used by the teachers to make transfer of learning.
