Abstract: The purpose of this study is to explore the individual contributions of Marhoom Ahamed Lebbe in building ethnic harmony between Tamils and Muslims to keep the strong relationship in Batticaloa district, Sri Lanka which is a multi-ethnic country. This characteristic historical study focuses on primary and secondary data. Interviews were conducted with eight (08) his closest associates through over the phone, as well as books, magazines, and historical documents about him were also reviewed. Accordingly, he, fatherly training from his early age with good characteristics, his first government appointment in Tamil division, and his knowledge of English were the basis for building Tamil-Muslim ethnic harmony. Sociological welfare development projects were carried out through the Batticaloa society of Commerce and, to date, both communities have been benefited. As well as promoting religious and literary events and giving prominence to Tamil-Muslim relations and building ethnic harmony. He was not elected to the Parliament due to his political instincts while he was elected as the Chairman representing Kattankudy. His contribution to social enhancement with the help of Tamil politicians is still remembered today. It also paved the way for the people of Batticaloa district to gain dual representation and put an end to racial violence during his lifetime. The friendship with the Tamil, high officials helped to free the abducted Muslim civilians and traders. Therefore, the study emphasizes the need for individual personalities to build Tamil-Muslim ethnic harmony and to make suggestions on the steps to be taken in this regard and to assist future researchers in this regard.
