Abstract: Tourism is that the activity of people travelling and staying in palaces outside their usual environment for leisure business or other purpose. The tourism sector is one of the main exchanges earning sources of the Sri Lankan economy. Kandy is an iconic place of tourism in Sri Lanka. It is the last capital of the Sinhala kingdom. It’s also known as ‘Mahanuwara’ and has been identified as a world religious center since 1988. The main purpose of this research to spotlight the impact of COVID 19 within the tourism sector in the Kandy district and identify the potential activities to rebuild the affected agent. Further research compares differences within the alleviation of the tour 2019 and 2020 because of the COVID – 19. This study descriptively utilized primary data. Apart from other cases, this pandemic has created immense consequences in political social and economic factors. especially effect tourism, which is an icon of Sri Lanka’s economy is entirely dropped down. Tourism is rapidly growing investment point in Sri Lanka, where huge investment is taking place. Even though the investment is very massive the planning, development and marketing is the key component of success in tourism zone enhancement. This study suggests that the tourism sector can be redeveloped by increasing the contribution to the public to organized management to provide credit assistance to encourage tourism investment.
