Abstract: In the contemporary world, the education is trapped by the capitalized world. Though situation is such, Sri Lanka has a free education to all Sri Lankan citizens. The government introduced the scholarship examination to grade five students to achieve goals such as, offering grants in scholarship and getting chance in national schools. But the students and parents have been misunderstood the theme. Based on the background the research was carried out to find whether there is a link between grade five scholarship examination and professional qualification and educational attainment. The study was conducted in Koddaikallar division. The research data was gathered using primary and secondary data collecting methods. In order to collect primary data primary data 45 questionnaires were distributed by using availability sampling technique. In addition focus group discussion (FGD) was done with a principal, a teacher, a private class teacher, parents and the president of Community and Higher Education Service Society (CHESS). Secondary data collection was done using reports of divisional secretariat and statistical reports of zonal educational office. Finding of the study reveals that there are no any connections between grade five scholarship examination and professional qualification. But still schools, parents and society believe these examination should pass by each and every students seems like ordinary level and advanced level. So, if the changes have been made in government policy level in future this problem will reduce.
