Abstract: Social media plays a vital role in this modern era. Social media is widely used by children – elders, all types of officers, workers, students, teachers, lecturers and researchers. There are some kind of social media prevailed in those days but nearly more than 63 social media are existing. They are Facebook, Whatsapp, Wechat, Youtube, Google Instragram, Twitter, Skype, Viber, Printerest, Quora, Vero, Douban, Mixi, Tout, Meetup, Meetme, Deviantart, Flicker, We Heart It and so on. In fact, some are very famous and others are little bit getting famous. There are many researches made on this topic but there is no any related researches have been done in Sammanthrai. Thus, this research tries to full fill this research gap. Nowadays the use of social medias is very high compared with those days. The main problem of the research is why the young generation is using social media day by day in a high range where as there are some benefits and more challenges in the massive use of social media. The objective of this study is to identify the challenges faced by younger generation by the massive use of social media. Primary and secondary data were collected to full fill the research. Purposive sample was used to select 100 people of the age range of 17-22. Direct interview, two focus group discussions, issue of questionnaire and direct observation were used to collect the primary data. Magazines, research papers, newspapers and essays of internet were used to collect the secondary data. The major finding of this research is that there are many challenges faced by youth generation and the range is increased day by day. It is not a simple matter.
